Tomoo Gokita’s solo exhibition NAKED will be on view at BLUM’s Los Angeles gallery, 2727 S La Cienega Blvd, from May 30 through August 2, 2025. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, May 30, from 5 to 7 pm, welcoming collectors and the public to preview these new works. Across this run, viewers will encounter a suite of paintings in which Gokita’s figures emerge from and dissolve into smudged, abstract fields, prompting questions of visibility and erasure. Many canvases employ a predominantly monochrome palette punctuated by sudden touches of red or ochre, underscoring moments of psychic charge amid muted tones. Through this tension between hyper‑clarity and gesture, NAKED deepens Gokita’s ongoing investigation into anonymity, performance, and psychological resonance.
