A vibrant new dance studio, Industry Dance Co., has opened its doors in downtown Hermiston, offering an array of classes for students of all ages and skill levels. Located at 182 E. Main St., the studio hosted an open house on Dec. 17 and will kick off its first short season on Jan. 6. Co-owners Ashley Seibel and Vanessa Stackhouse aim to provide a comprehensive dance education that balances technique and creativity, with classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and even parent-toddler sessions. "A diverse dance education creates a well-rounded dancer," said Seibel, who brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the studio.
The studio prides itself on its nine-member faculty, selected for their professionalism and dedication to nurturing talent. Beyond recreational and competitive dance options, Industry Dance Co. emphasizes inclusivity with adaptive classes like "Shine," designed for students of all abilities. Stackhouse, whose background in both dance and healthcare lends a unique perspective, is excited about fostering a positive, welcoming environment. "This is a place where all are welcome, and kids are free to express themselves through the art of dance," she said.
Funding for Industry Dance Co. came from a mix of personal savings and support from the Umatilla Electric Cooperative Business Resource Center. Classes start at $65 per month, with discounts for siblings and multi-class registrations. The studio operates Monday through Thursday for regular students, with drop-in classes available on weekends.
